What size blanket do I need for my horse?
It is very important that a blanket has the correct size for the horse in question so that the blanket fits properly. A blanket that is too small will chafe and is not comfortable for the horse, while a blanket that is too large will slide or the horse may step on it. The blanket can therefore quickly break and the horse could fall or get stuck with its legs.
To know which size is correct for the horse, you must first measure the lower length of the horse. You do this by starting at the front of the horse's chest at the sternums and then measuring horizontally, along the horse's belly, up to the tail. There are also blankets where the sizes are in top length. That is, from the horse's withers, over the back to the base of the tail.
In the table below you can see which lower length and upper length normally correspond to a certain stick size. That is an average, some horses have a very long back or a very short back. The table will then no longer be correct.
